Hastelloy C-276® is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in severe environments. The high nickel and molybdenum contents make the nickel steel alloy especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments while chromium conveys resistance to oxidizing media. Although there are several variations of the Hastelloy nickel alloy, Hastelloy C-276 is by far the most widely used.
Overview of Hastelloy C-276 characteristics:
Hastelloy C-276 (N10276) has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media under oxidation and reduction conditions. Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is suitable for various chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The higher content of molybdenum and chromium makes the alloy resistant to corrosion by chloride ions, and the element tungsten further improves its corrosion resistance.
Hastelloy C-276 is one of the only materials that can resist the corrosion of moist chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solution. The alloy has significant corrosion resistancetohigh-concentration chlorinated salt solutions (such as chlorinated Iron and copper chloride).

Specification & Standard:
The Hastelloy C276 Pipe is covered by 2 specifications i.e. ASTM B622 as well as ASTM B619. Typically the ASTM B622 Pipe is constructed in a seamless manner, whereas the construction of the ASTM B619 Pipe is welded. Amongst all the Hastelloy variations the C276 Hastelloy Pipe is the most popular one.

Hastelloy C276® Applications
Hastelloy C-276 has been widely used in the chemical and petrochemical fields, such as in components and catalytic systems that contact chloride-containing organics. This material is especially suitable for use in high temperature, mixed with impurities of inorganic and organic acids (such as formic acid and acetic acid), and seawater corrosive environments.
Other application areas:
● Pulp and paper industry, such as digestion and bleaching vessels
●Washing tower, reheater, wet steam fan, etc. in FGD system
●Equipment and components operating in acid gas environment
●Reactor for acetic acid and acid products
●Sulfuric acid condenser
●Methylene diphenyl isocyanate (MDI)
●Production and processing of impure phosphoric acid
