The Brazilian Steel Association says the capacity utilization rate of the Brazilian steel industry has risen to 60%

Brazilian Iron and Steel Industry Association (Instituto A?O Brasil) stated on August 28 that the current capacity utilization rate of the Brazilian steel industry is about 60%, higher than the 42% during the April epidemic, but far from the ideal level of 80%.

Brazilian Steel Association President Marco Polo de Mello Lopes said in a seminar hosted by the association that at the height of the epidemic, a total of 13 blast furnaces across Brazil shut down. However, he added that as steel consumption has recently entered a V-shaped recovery period, four of the blast furnaces have reunited and resumed production.
