SS 316,316L,316H,316Ti are both the 18/8 standard molybdenum based austenitic grades.

Stainless steel grade 316 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with molybdenum. second stainless steel important to 304. The molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistance properties than grade 304, especially higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.

Stainless Steel Grade 316 This is a low carbon austenitic chrome-nickel stainless steel with the same corrosion resistance as type 316, but with resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding.

Stainless Steel Grade 316 This is a higher carbon grade of 316, making the steel more suitable for use in applications where high temperatures are available. Balanced Grade 316Ti offers similar qualities. The expanded carbon content provides a greater tensile and yield strength. The austenitic structure of the material also gives this grade excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.

Stainless steel 316 Tiis Titanium addition of 316 steel. This elongation increases corrosion resistance, improves pitting resistance in chloride ion solutions and provides expanded strength at high temperatures. Corrosion resistance is improved, especially against sulfuric, hydrochloric, acetic, formic and tartaric acids, acid sulfates and alkaline chlorides.

Moreover, their chemical composition and physical properties are also different as shown below. These properties are specified for flat rolled products (sheet, sheet and coil) in ASTM A240 and ASTM A167. pipes and tubes according to ASTM A213 and ASTM A149. Similar but not necessarily identical properties are specified for other products such as bar and forged products in their respective specifications.

In general, the main difference between them is the application. 316 is the base material and is used in reducing acids; 316L is used against corrosion; 316H is commonly used in high temperature resistance; 316Ti prevents intergranular corrosion by adding titanium.
