How is the quenching technology for straight seam welded steel pipes implemented

Date: 2026-02-28
How is the quenching technology for straight seam welded steel pipes implemented Surface quenching and tempering heat treatment for straight seam welded steel pipes is typically performed using induction heating or flame heating. The main technical parameters are surface hardness, local hardness, and effective hardened layer depth. Hardness testing can be done using a Vickers hardness tester, a Rockwell, or a surface Rockwell hardness tester. When the surface heat-treated hardened layer is thick, a Rockwell hardness tester can also be used. When the heat-treated hardened layer thickness is 0.4–0.8 mm, the HRA scale can be used; when the hardened layer thickness exceeds 0.8 mm, the HRC scale can be used. If the part requires high local hardness, local quenching heat treatment can be performed using induction heating or other methods. For such straight seam welded steel pipes, the location of the local quenching heat treatment and the local hardness value must usually be marked on the drawing. Hardness testing of straight seam welded steel pipes must be performed within the designated area. Hardness testing instruments can use a Rockwell hardness tester to measure the HRC hardness value; if the heat-treated hardened layer is shallow, a surface Rockwell hardness tester can be used to measure the HRN hardness value. Vickers, Rockwell, and surface Rockwell hardness values can be easily converted to each other, into the hardness values required by standards, drawings, or users. Corresponding conversion tables are provided in the international standard ISO, American standard ASTM, and Chinese standard GB/T. Post time: Feb-28-2026

Quality control for stainless welded steel pipe should begin with the incoming material and continue through forming, welding, sizing, finishing and final inspection,For project procurement, checking only the finished pipe is not enough,A reliable inspection process should confirm that the supplied pipe matches the agreed material grade, dimensions, manufacturing requirements, testing requirements and documentation,The exact inspection plan depends on the applicable product standard and purchase specification,For example,ASTM A312 covers straight-seam welded austenitic stainless steel pipe and specifies requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties and applicable testing,
  • stainless welded steel pipe corrosion, stainless welded pipe maintenance, stainless steel pipe industrial applications
Stainless welded steel pipe is widely used in industrial systems because stainless steel provides good corrosion resistance in many service environments,However, stainless steel is not corrosion-proof,Chlorides,deposits,contamination,unsuitable material selection, poor fabrication practices and aggressive operating conditions can all create corrosion risks,For this reason, preventing stainless welded steel pipe corrosion starts before installation and continues throughout the service life of the system,
